Maren is an experienced planner and communications professional with a deep commitment to community engagement and social justice. Before becoming a Senior Planner for the Montgomery County Planning Department, Maren served as the Safe Routes to School Outreach Manager for Vermont and the Planner for the Town of St. Albans, Vermont, where she focused on walking and biking projects, zoning regulations and stormwater management. She holds a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University and a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Barnard College.

A Philadelphia native, Maren has held positions working with diverse populations in New York City; Cochabamba, Bolivia; and Vermont. She has contributed to  a variety of planning projects both domestically and internationally, ranging from water treatment in Honduras to bicycle infrastructure improvements in New York City to rural economic development projects in Central New York State, and Vision Zero planning in Montgomery County, MD.
